Materials to prepare

• Connect your computer to the classroom screen and speakers. Check sound before children arrive. Internet is needed.
• Preview the activity and writing sheets. Print enough for your group, prepare word cards and an exit check, and keep the teacher guide nearby. Cut cards and print the matching spaces at the same scale.
• Print the activity sheets and four cards: b, a, h, t. Use paper and small seated gestures. A real bat, ball or hat is not needed.
• Keep the lesson slides ready if a video does not play. Read the English notes and model the action yourself.

Lesson flow · 45-minute guide

1. 0–4 min

   1. Hello Routine

   Play Hello Song and model a small ready gesture from your seat.

   Teaching notes

   Say

   Let's sing hello. Show me you are ready.

   Look for

   Watch for children joining a small ready gesture.

   If difficult

   Let children copy the position without singing.

2. 4–9 min

   2. Review Bridge

   Show the at/sat, got/cot, and run/kit cards for a quick reading review.

   Teaching notes

   Say

   Let's read at, sat, got, cot, run, and kit.

   Look for

   Listen for children reading the word shown on each card.

   If difficult

   Model one pair of words and let children repeat it.

3. 9–14 min

   3. Bubble Theater

   Play the Baseball Field story.

   Teaching notes

   Say

   Let's watch our baseball story.

   Look for

   Watch for children following the story on the screen.

   If difficult

   Pause on one picture and briefly describe it.

4. 14–24 min

   4. Sound Discovery

   Contrast the breathy H sound with the B sound made by briefly closing and releasing the lips.

   Teaching notes

   Say

   Breathe out softly with me. Now watch my lips pop open.

   Look for

   Watch for children using different mouth movements for the two sounds.

   If difficult

   Model one sound at a time and let children copy slowly.

5. 24–32 min

   5. Guided Practice

   Arrange B-A-T and blend bat, then replace B with H and blend hat.

   Teaching notes

   Say

   Let's build bat. Change the first letter to make hat.

   Look for

   Listen for children changing the first sound when the first letter changes.

   If difficult

   Keep A-T in place and model the new first sound before blending together.

6. 32–37 min

   6. Singing Bubble

   Play the H/B chant and model a small clap. Children may point instead.

   Teaching notes

   Say

   Chant and clap with me.

   Look for

   Watch for children joining the clap or a pointing response with the chant.

   If difficult

   Let children copy the motion without chanting.

7. 37–43 min

   7. Worksheet

   Put b in the top row and h in the bottom row. Read both words and match the pictures. Coloring the balls is optional afterwards.

   Teaching notes

   Say

   Add the first letter. Read bat, then read hat.

   Look for

   Watch for children choosing the correct first letter for each word.

   If difficult

   Model one word and help children finish the other.

8. 43–45 min

   8. Exit Ticket

   Make either the H or B sound while children choose between the H and B cards.

   Teaching notes

   Say

   Listen to the sound. Hold up the matching letter.

   Look for

   Watch for children holding up the card that matches the sound.

   If difficult

   Model the sound for each card before asking children to choose again.

Story voices

The class screen shows each picture. Read both voices, pause, and invite the children to join in.
