Materials to prepare

• Connect your computer to the classroom screen and speakers. Check sound before children arrive. Internet is needed.
• Preview the activity and writing sheets. Print enough for your group, prepare word cards and an exit check, and keep the teacher guide nearby. Cut cards and print the matching spaces at the same scale.
• Use letter cards and vet/web pictures. The seven cutouts include two e cards and a separate j sound card. A hand mirror is optional; children can watch your face. Keep writing and word cards facing the child.
• Keep the lesson slides ready if a video does not play. Read the English notes and model the action yourself.

Lesson flow · 45-minute guide

1. 0–4 min

   1. Hello Routine

   Play Hello Song and model the mirror-looking pose.

   Teaching notes

   Say

   Let's sing hello. Copy my mirror pose.

   Look for

   Watch for children copying the mirror-looking pose.

   If difficult

   Let children copy the pose without singing.

2. 4–9 min

   2. Review Bridge

   Review fan and lip while showing the mouth position for each word's first sound.

   Teaching notes

   Say

   Let's read fan and lip. Watch how my mouth moves.

   Look for

   Watch for children copying the mouth position for the first sound.

   If difficult

   Model one word slowly and let children copy your mouth movement.

3. 9–14 min

   3. Bubble Theater

   Play the Mirror Studio story.

   Teaching notes

   Say

   Let's watch our mirror story.

   Look for

   Watch for children following the story on the screen.

   If difficult

   Pause on one picture and briefly describe it.

4. 14–24 min

   4. Sound Discovery

   Model the mouth shapes and sounds for J, V, and W one at a time.

   Teaching notes

   Say

   Watch my mouth. Copy each shape and sound.

   Look for

   Watch for children changing their mouth shape to match each model.

   If difficult

   Practice one mouth shape together before adding another.

5. 24–32 min

   5. Guided Practice

   Build v-e-t and read vet. Keep e, replace v with w and t with b, then read web.

   Teaching notes

   Say

   Let's build vet. Now let's build web.

   Look for

   Watch for children changing both outer letters and reading the whole word.

   If difficult

   Keep e in place and help children change one outer letter at a time before reading web.

6. 32–37 min

   6. Singing Bubble

   Play the Mirror chant and model the mouth movements for children to copy.

   Teaching notes

   Say

   Let's chant together. Copy my mouth as we chant.

   Look for

   Watch for children copying the mouth movements during the chant.

   If difficult

   Model one short part slowly for children to copy.

7. 37–43 min

   7. Worksheet

   Use the sound-choice sheet, then match vet and web to their pictures. Use mirrors for faces and read the printed letters directly.

   Teaching notes

   Say

   Watch and listen. Choose a letter, then read and match.

   Look for

   Notice the letter chosen after the model and the word matched to each picture.

   If difficult

   Offer two letter cards and model one sound. Choose just one worksheet activity if needed.

8. 43–45 min

   8. Exit Ticket

   Silently model the mouth shape for V or W while showing the V and W cards.

   Teaching notes

   Say

   Watch my mouth. Choose the matching letter.

   Look for

   Watch for children choosing the card that matches the mouth shape.

   If difficult

   Add the sound beside each card and note the help. This is separate from reading a word.

Story voices

The class screen shows each picture. Read both voices, pause, and invite the children to join in.
