Materials to prepare

• Connect your computer to the classroom screen and speakers. Check sound before children arrive. Internet is needed.
• Preview the activity and writing sheets. Print enough for your group, prepare word cards and an exit check, and keep the teacher guide nearby. Cut cards and print the matching spaces at the same scale.
• Prepare five reusable letter cards, the three word cards, pencils and the eight-strip craft page. An adult cuts; children can draw eyes and glue. Without scissors or glue, point and count on the page.
• Keep the lesson slides ready if a video does not play. Read the English notes and model the action yourself.

Lesson flow · 45-minute guide

1. 0–4 min

   1. Hello Routine

   Model a small seated wave and hello. No diving or running is needed.

   Teaching notes

   Say

   Hello, ocean! Say hello with me.

   Look for

   Listen for children joining the ocean greeting.

   If difficult

   Let children repeat just hello.

2. 4–9 min

   2. Review Bridge

   Offer map, sun and bus one at a time. Give time to respond before modelling.

   Teaching notes

   Say

   Let's read these words again.

   Look for

   Listen for children reading a word without a model.

   If difficult

   Point to each letter and blend one word together.

3. 9–14 min

   3. Bubble Theater

   Read the five original scenes or play the story. Use the eight-strip template for counting; the illustration is stylised.

   Teaching notes

   Say

   Let's watch our ocean story.

   Look for

   Watch for children following the story on the screen.

   If difficult

   Pause on one picture and briefly describe it.

4. 14–24 min

   4. Sound Discovery

   Show O, P, and T and model each sound. Use short o in pot; ocean is story vocabulary, not its sound model.

   Teaching notes

   Say

   Look at each letter. Let's make its sound again.

   Look for

   Listen for children making the sound of the letter you indicate.

   If difficult

   Model one letter sound and let children repeat it before continuing.

5. 24–32 min

   5. Guided Practice

   Build pot; keep o and swap p and t to make top. Replace both outer letters with l and g for log. Read all three positions.

   Say

   Let's read pot, top, and log.

   Look for

   Listen for children reading the word you indicate.

   If difficult

   Point to each letter and blend one word together.

6. 32–37 min

   6. Singing Bubble

   Play the Ocean chant and model its words for children to follow.

   Teaching notes

   Say

   Let's do our ocean chant.

   Look for

   Listen for children joining a familiar part of the chant.

   If difficult

   Model one short part slowly for children to repeat.

7. 37–43 min

   7. STEAM Activity

   Use the eight-strip template. An adult cuts the body and eight arms; children count, draw a face and glue. If materials are unavailable, point to each printed strip and count.

   Teaching notes

   Say

   Let's make an octopus. Watch each step, then try it.

   Look for

   Watch for one count per paper arm. Craft completion is separate from word reading.

   If difficult

   Model two counts, help with one strip or let the child point instead.

8. 43–45 min

   8. Exit Ticket

   Offer a plain pot or top card before modelling. Ask which outer letters swap; note help separately from an independent response.

   Teaching notes

   Say

   Look at pot and top. Which letters changed places?

   Look for

   Watch for children indicating the letters that changed places.

   If difficult

   Point to the first letter in each word to begin the comparison.

Story voices

The class screen shows each picture. Read both voices, pause, and invite the children to join in.
